CKA’s Citrus Slushy

Dreamy Drinks!

This is a fantastic way to cool off while staying healthy! This slushy uses natural vitamin packed citrus juice for the flavor and honey (or agave) as the sweetener. It may take some time to fresh squeeze the juice, but it’s worth it!

6 cups of ice (need a blender that crushes ice – if you don’t have one, crushed ice will be required for a less powerful blender)
3 ounces of fresh squeezed lemon juice
6 ounces of fresh squeezed orange juice
3 tbsp all natural honey (or agave nectar)
chilled cups/glasses

1.     Place cups/glasses into the freezer.
2.    After juice is squeezed, add it to the blender with the ice. Add honey. This slushy is on the tart side (though the oranges also add natural sweetness), but if you want it sweeter, you can add more honey to your taste.
3.    Blend the ice and juice mixture – Once the ice begins to crush, the juice will allow it to start getting to that “slushy” consistency you want. DON’T OVERMIX or it will get too liquidy (the heat of the blender blade will melt the ice). If you need to use a tamper to incorporate and crush all the ice, you can do so, just be careful not to let it hit the blade.
4.    Remove chilled cups/glasses from the freezer and spoon the slushy into them. Serve with a wedge of orange slice (or lemon if you prefer) as a garnish on the side of the glass. Sit back and cool off!
